t’s a burning question for the webmasters, and especially the inexperienced ones, to which sites they should exchange their links? Is it more beneficial to exchange links to irrelevant sites, or it’s just the waste of time and effort? But to exchange links to the irrelevant sites does bring traffic to your website, of course and raises the image of your own website. But it does so only as far as the sites to which you are going to exchange your links don’t contain any non ethical content. And the most important benefit of link exchange is to bring the traffic from other sites to your own website. When visitors find your link on a website; by following that link, they would visit your site as well.
However, it’s better to advertise on those websites that have relevant content to that of yours, or complementary. For example, if you exchange your link with a site that sells books, and yours is an article related site; it would be a good idea, indeed. Quite the opposite, if you have an e-zine and go on exchanging your links on a fashion related website, the interests of the visitors would be entirely different; and there will be fewer chances of increased traffic.
When you initiate your link exchanging program, and ask a webmaster to put your link on his website; he will put our link on a place where no visitors will follow that link. So, it would not generate traffics towards your website; would be helpful for the purpose of SEO statistic only. So there is a need for you to increase the quality of the place where your link is put. For that purpose, you must try for getting home page links on other websites.
Google has also launched a fresh parameter. Google robots, when you crawl your web to find out what will be the PR for your website, will check the pertinent links they hit upon, providing a better check to back link as compared with the reciprocal linking. You must not ignore other search engines i.e. Yahoo as it has almost the same value.
